We spent a few days at the Cockscomb Wildlife Preserve in the Toledo District in Southern Belize. It was pretty wet and rainy, but we had a good time anyway. They have a wonderful campground. The first night, as we were getting camp organized, Craig discovered a pretty good-sized scorpion.
One of the short walks we took was to an airplane wreck. It was just like a book, you walk through the jungle and then there's this airplane overgrown with jungle plants. There were pieces here and there, with one wing torn off. As I recall, the people on board walked away ok, but I'm not sure.
There weren't as many flowers as I had hoped. I don't know if we were just at the wrong time of year (seems likely, since it was December), or what. There were lots of vines. It was too wet to go swinging through the trees like Tarzan. And I was also a little leary of one of them giving way and me falling on my back and trashing it out. And there were lots of mushrooms.
We hiked to the top of a bluff which had a great view of the surrounding countryside, and Mt. Victoria, the highest point in Belize. Unfortunately, the clouds obscurred it. I got a better view at the end of my visit, when sailing back to Belize City. But it wasn't as close a view. Guess I'll have to try again sometime.

We also hiked to a pretty waterfall. It was hot and humid. Carol and I went swimming.
