After coming down from the Danum Valley, we flew from Lahad Datu back to Kota Kinabalu,
where we cleaned up, relaxed and went out to see some more of town.
Someone had given us a line on a good indian restaurant, "Kohinoor" or something like that,
down on the waterfront.
I had an excellent lamb dish in a cashew and something else sauce,
with garlic naan, some goat cheese,
and a mango drink kind of like yogurt.
Yum!
Unfortunately I had my camera set to manual focus and didn't know it
so most of my pictures came out blurred. Grrr....

Then we wandered around the markets,
where I had no desire to buy much of anything,
which was good,
since I didn't have any room in my luggage
and I still had four weeks of travel to look forward to.

Our planes didn't leave until late in the afternoon,
so the next day we got a taxi out to the
Kota Kinabalu Wetland Center.
It isn't very large, but it had some cool stuff to see.

Mt Kinabalu on way to Wetland Center |
We saw this outrageous psychadelic colored crab
that looked like it had a bunch of led lights in its head,
and a bazillion mud skippers we recognized from a
Planet Earth dvd
we have at home which we watch with the grandkids.
Then we found a Black-Crowned Night Heron sneaking around,
more or less walking like an Egyptian...

And then it was time to head to the airport.
I said good-bye to Ram and Dawn,
and embarked on a long series of flights and waits to get to
Tasmania,
where I would meet up with Dona and our friends the Frappells for a great time!
