Our first day on the South Fork was spent exploring; we decided this one would be a day of rest. We had a lazy morning breakfast, including dough-boys with honey and jam. Andrea and Steve played cribbage, and then we had a war of bananas.

We set up the silver lining as a sun-shade and lazed around down by the riverside. Adin and I fished, Dona read and made a willow basket, Andrea and Steve battled further on the cribbage board, and Zia amazed us all with the cool bugs she found. And we all went swimming and exploring.

There was a young kestrel in the tree right behind our sunshade.
